Source:Inside Market Data Date: April 25, 2005 German Bank Switches to BST HSH Nordbank, a North German bank headquartered in Hamburg and Kiel, is replacing its installation of Screen Consultants' InfoMatch market data inventory system with BST Software's FinOffice 5 product, officials tell Inside Market Data. The bank has been using InfoMatch for the past six and a half years, according to bank officials. But HSH Nordbank had grown frustrated with the latest version of the Screen Consultants' software, InfoMatch2, which it had been using since 2003. |

Date: September 2, 2005 The Rock, the Hard Place, and Doing Business in Today’s Information Marketplace It’s a common theme these days: The economic downturn of the past several years has put customers and suppliers alike between the proverbial rock and a hard place. The result is the now-familiar statement, “The marketplace is flat.” Whether buying or selling in this marketplace, people are looking for the best ways to “weather the storm” until a positive change takes effect. The flat market translates into tougher sales for the suppliers, which must contend with customers’ fixed or reduced budgets and their demand that suppliers give more for the same investment while continuing to offer new innovative solutions. In summary, senior management is pressuring customers to lower costs, while suppliers are having a harder time retaining their current book of business. Due to increasing business requirements—and given that the dollars spent for information and market data within many industries make up the second-highest company cost next to people—it struck me that an interesting exercise would be to research how customers and suppliers are “weathering the storm.” |
